UEFA Women’s Champions League 2024: First Leg Day 2

The UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final’s first Leg has been completed today on March 20. We had two matches today after yesterday’s two matches.

1.Hacken vs Paris Saint-Germain

2.Brann Vs Barcelona.

Hacken vs Paris Saint-Germain

The first match on March 20, was played between these teams at Hisingen Arena, Gothenburg.

It was a fierce match where both teams performed exceptionally well. Eva Gaetino from Paris scored her first professional goal, what a day she chose to accomplish this feat in the 23rd minute during the first half.

Rosa Kafaji leveled the score at 42 minutes with the perfect header to the bottom right corner and finally, Tabitha Chawinga struck in the second half at 74 minutes to seal the win for Paris by 2:1. She is the top scorer for her side in this championship.

Häcken’s Rosa Kafaji won the UEFA Player of the Match award for her excellent play and fantastic goal for her team.

The second leg match will be on 28 March and the Swedish side Hacken will take positive from this game and be ready to earn revenge in the return fixture next Thursday.

Häcken’s coach said, “They are sad, but they will look at all the positives from this game and give our best for the second chance next week”.

Paris’s coach said, ” I am a little disappointed with the performance, we will analyze our performance today and will fill the gap for future games”.

Brann Vs Barcelona

The second match on March 20, was played between these teams at Asane Arena, Bergen.

It was a close match and Graham Hansen from Barcelona scored the first goal for Barcelona in the 9th minute during the first half.

Cecilie Kvamme from Brann leveled the score at 39 minutes with the perfect right footer from very close range and finally, Salma Paralluelo sealed a narrow victory for Barcelona with a stunning left-foot shot at 72 minutes. Barcelona, the defending champion won this match with a 2:1 final score.

Caroline Graham Hansen won the UEFA Player of the Match award for her excellent goal in the beginning which set the stage for Barcelona.

The second leg match will be on 28 March and the Swedish side will take positive from this game and be ready to earn revenge in the return fixture next Thursday.

Brann’s coach said, “We are proud of our performance today. There are lot to take away from today’s match and we will work on some gaps and will come back stronger on March 28”.

Barcelona’s coach said, “He was expecting more goals as there were a lot of opportunities to score, however, he is happy with the result”.

Semi-finals (20/21 & 27/28 April)

  •  Brann/Barcelona vs Ajax/Chelsea
  •  Benfica/ Lyon vs Häcken/Paris Saint-Germain

Final on 25th May at, San Mamés, Bilbao
