The Boston Marathon is scheduled for April 15 and the Adidas Manchester Marathon, the second largest in the UK and one of Europe’s premier events is set to electrify the streets of Greater Manchester a day earlier on April 14.
What is the Manchester Marathon?
The Manchester Marathon, established in 1908 with a 20-mile route later extended to 26.2 miles, has become a cornerstone of European marathons, attracting thousands of runners from across the globe. In 2024, an estimated 32,000 participants will join the race, bolstered by a long-term partnership with sportswear giant Adidas since 2023.
What are the entry criteria for the Manchester Marathon?
You should be above the age of 18 at the time of the marathon to participate.

In 2024, the Manchester Marathon will take place on Sunday, April 14.
What time does the Manchester Marathon start?
The Manchester Marathon is divided into multiple categories. Each category has a different BIB colour. You can check your BIB with the time to start as per the below table. Kindly note, that if you are using a bag drop facility then, you need to come 30 minutes earlier.
Where to drop the bag?
The bag drop is located at the event village at Lancashire Cricket Club, and participants are advised to allow extra time.
How do I collect my participant pack?
Participants can obtain their race packs in various ways. UK-based runners will receive theirs via post before the event weekend, while others can collect theirs at the Holiday Inn, Manchester City Center, on Saturday between 10 am and 5 pm. These packs contain essential items like a unique BIB, timing chip, and participant number, which must be affixed to the front.
What areas does the Manchester Marathon Cover?
The 2024 Manchester Marathon start and finish area will be near Old Trafford. The marathon route will pass through the city center. There will be cheer stations along the route.

How to Track the Manchester Marathon.
Spectators will be able to access the estimated current locations of all runners on Sunday, the 14th of April at the Adidas Manchester Marathon through a predictive tracking system.

Where can I find the Manchester Marathon results?
The results with the final time will appear on the website after 45 minutes All participants who entered a UK mobile number will also receive their results via text message as soon as you finish.
What is new at the Adidas Manchester Marathon 2024?
The Adidas Manchester Marathon 2024 has five updates in 2024.
- A New Mascot (Chester the Bee, a love interest of the existing mascot Manny the Bee).
- An Interactive Adidas Pop-Up(10th April-13th April, Adidas Running at 26.2).
- A Snazzy Medal.
- A Finisher Tee by the talented artist, Meha Hindocha.

Looking ahead to 2025, the Adidas Manchester Marathon is slated for Sunday, April 27, coinciding with the London Marathon for the first time. Registration for guaranteed public places opens on April 16, 2024, with priority access available by registering early.

Why is 2025 Manchester and London Marathon on the Same day?
The decision to align the Manchester and London Marathons on the same day in 2025 was influenced by various factors, including the timing of Easter, which falls on April 20, and considerations such as transport availability and sporting fixtures.
What other Main Marathons are planned for 2025?
In addition to the Manchester and London Marathons, other major events in 2025 include the Disney World Marathon 2025 from January 9 to 12, offering various races and challenges, and the Austin Marathon on February 16, which has already opened registration.
You can choose from four different races plus the 20th anniversary of Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge, and the Dopey Challenge that takes you 48.6 miles across all four Walt Disney World Theme Parks.
