Premier League: Everton Shatters Liverpool Hopes to Gain Top Position I Match Summary

Today was an interesting day in the Premier League. We had four matches, and everyone’s eyes were on the Liverpool match.

Liverpool is in second position with 74 points behind Arsenal which is retaining its top spot with 77 points.

Can Liverpool bridge this gap for the top position was the question everybody was asking, and it seems probable as they are meeting the 16th position, Everton, however, today is the day for Everton.

They started aggressively and kept attacking Liverpool and got rewards with the first goal of the match for Everton. Jarred Branthwaite from Everton left-footed shot from the Centre of the box and scored the first goal in 27 minutes.

Virgil Van Dijk received a yellow card in 37 minutes and Everton won a free kick.

Liverpool tried with some shots, but every shot evaded the net and the first-half score was 1-0 with Liverpool behind.

In the Second half, Liverpool increased their pace and started attacking the ball, however, Everton did not want to lose the lead and kept defending against Liverpool’s attack, and in counterattacking, they received the corner in 57 minutes and Dominic Calvert-Lewin doubled the lead for Everton in 58 minutes by heading the ball to the left corner, assisted by Dwight McNeil with a cross following the corner.

Liverpool was not able to break Everton’s defense today and till the 90-minute mark score was 2-0. In extra time, Liverpool showed their desperation and received two yellow cards- Luis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister.

Everton shattered Liverpool’s dream today of gaining top position in the Premier League by winning 2-0. Manchester City will face Brighton on April 25 and this match will be interesting as if Manchester City wins it then they will move to second position.
