March Madness, the NCAA men’s championship The Sweet 16 round has been completed today and we have the lineup ready for the 4th round of the Elite Eight.
The Elite Eight round will have a total of 4 games divided into two days with two games on each day. There are a total of six rounds in the tournament.
The first match of The Sweet 16 day 2 was between 11th-seeded NC State and 2nd-seed Marquette.
March Madness is known for its unpredictable outcomes and today’s first match of the day of the NCAA tournament was the best example.
No. 11-seed NC State, Wolfpack, defeated the No. 2-seed Marquette, Golden Eagles 67-58, Friday, March 29 to reach the Elite Eight Round. This is their first time into The Elite Eight since 1986.
NC State ended Marquette’s bid towards the final by winning this match 67-58.
DJ Horne scored 19 points, Casey Morsell added 15 points and Mohamed Diarra had 11 points and 15 rebounds for the Wolfpack.
No. 1 Purdue and 5th seed Gonzaga match was dominated by Purdue. Purdue defeated the Bulldogs 80-68 and moved on to the Elite Eight round for the first time since 2019.
Purdue’s Braden Smith-Zach Edey duo are the heroes of the match today. Smith etched his name into March Madness history by recording 15 assists, joining a handful of players who have hit that mark. He added 14 points and eight rebounds, too.
Edey contributed his share with 27 points and 14 rebounds in his team win.
The Boilermakers will move on to their sixth Elite Eight appearance in program history.
No. 1 seed Houston lost their match with No. 4 seed Duke 51-54 on Friday in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament.
This will be Duke’s second appearance in Elite Eight within the last three years.
Kyle Filipowski was tonight’s star for Duke, he scored 16 points along with Jeremy Roach 14 and helped their team to reach the next round.
The Blue Devils will face No.11 NC State on Sunday, March 31 in The Elite Eight round.
The last match of the second round of the NCAA Men’s basketball championship was between 2nd-seeded Tennessee and 3rd-seeded Creighton.
Tennessee kept their nerves in the second half and won the match with 82-75. Dalton Knecht scored 24 points and helped his team reach its second Elite Eight appearance and second since 2010.
Creighton’s star for tonight was Baylor Scheierman, who did everything to take his team to victory but unfortunately fell short of the target. He scored 25 points. The Volunteers will get No. 1 seed Purdue on Sunday in the round of Elite Eight.
