March Madness NCAA Men Championship’s second round started with a bang on Saturday, March 23.
Round 2 will have a total of 16 games divided into two days with eight games on each day. There are a total of six rounds in the NCAA basketball tournament.
We had some tight matches and upsets during the first round completed on March 22 and round 2 day 1 also did not disappoint anyone.
No.2 Arizona kicked off the day with a 78-68 win over lower-ranked Dayton (Daylon Ranked in 10th place).
The first major upset on day 1 of the second round was the match between Kansas and Gonzaga. The 5th seeded BULLDOGS beat 4th seed JAYHAWKS 89-68.
We saw some exciting games today. 11th-seeded North Carolina State needs to push hard to beat 14th-seeded Oakland 79-73 in the second round of the NCAA men’s Tournament on Saturday night. DJ Burns Jr. scored 24 points and helped his team reach the Sweet 16.
Oakland missed the chance to be the first 14 seed to reach round 3 after they beat No. 3 Kentucky last Thursday in the first round of March Madness.
The final match of the second round day 1 on March 23 between 3rd-seeded Creighton and 11th-seeded Oregon was scintillating with double overtime. Both teams were leveled at a 71-71 score at the end of the first OT. Finally, Creighton beat Oregon with an 86-71 final score in the second OT.
This is Creighton’s 3rd entry into the Sweet 16 in four years.
The first batch of eight teams headed to the Sweet 16 round-Arizona, Gonzaga, UNC, Iowa State, NC State, Tennessee, Illinois, and Creighton.
