Fazalhaq Farooqi is a young cricketer from Afghanistan, born on 22 September 2000 in Afghanistan. He is a left-arm fast-medium bowler and a right-hand batsman.
He is known for his swing bowling and made his T20 International debut for the Afghanistan cricket team in March 2021. He represented Afghanistan in the 2020 U19 Cricket World Cup, 2021 T20 World Cup and 2023 ODI World Cup.
He was part of Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings as a net bowler in the 2020 and 2021 IPL editions. Sunrisers Hyderabad bought him in the 2022 Indian Premier League season and made his IPL debut against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 8 May 2022.
He is part of the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup to be played in the West Indies and USA.
He becomes the first bowler to take 4+ wickets in consecutive matches in the T20 World Cup history. He took five wickets against Uganda during Afghanistan’s first match of the 2024 T20 Cricket World Cup added to his tally with 17/4 against New Zealand and helped his team defeat New Zealand in a T20 match for the first time in five international matchups.
