2024 CONCACAF Champions Cup: Columbus Crew beat Monterrey and Advances to Finals

The CONCACAF Champions Cup 2024 semifinals Second Leg second match was played between Monterrey and Columbus Crew on Wednesday night, May 1 at Estadio BBVA in Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Columbus Crew defeated Monterrey in the First leg match 2-1 and the Monterrey had to beat Columbus with more than one goal margin to meet Pachuca in the finals of the CONCACAF Champions Cup 2024.

Both teams started well, however, Columbus Crew looked more positive and the confidence they gained from the first-leg win was reflected in their play. However, they scored the first goal of the match in their own net.

Yevhen Cheberko shot the ball into his net in 11 minutes and CF Monterrey got a lead 1-0.

This was unfortunate for Columbus Crew.

Sebastian Vegas received a yellow card in 34 minutes for stopping Marino Hinestroza dangerously. He needs to be careful from now onwards.

Aidan Morris leveled the score 1-1 for Columbus Crew in the extra time of the first half at 45+4 minutes.

Both teams were at 1-1 at half-time.

In the second half, Columbus Crew showed their class again and gained a lead in 49 minutes. Diego Rossi scored a goal for Columbus Crew and gave a 2-1 lead.

The Monterrey team tried to take control of ball possession and tried many shots at Columbus Crew but today is not their day. In the meanwhile, Columbus Crew increased the lead to unbeatable 3-1 at 89 minutes.

Jacen Russel Rowe Scored the winning goal from open play in 89 minutes and Columbus Crew won the match 3-1. This is the first time in CONCACAF Champions Cup history that Columbus Crew has reached the finals. Aiden Morris won player of the match.

Columbus Crew will meet Pachuca in the final of the CONCACAF Champions Cup 2024 on June 1.
